A LITTLE ABOUT ME - MARVIN TERRY

Biography

I am a Candian-born artist, currently living in Oakville, Ontario.

My cultural background is Saulteaux Ojibwe – Treaty 2 Territory / Manitoba

I am a self-taught artist who produces works of detail and beautiful colors. I work with ink, watercolors and acrylic.

I am a sixties scoop survivor who lost his
culture and language. I spent my youth in foster homes and group homes until the age of 14 when I was adopted.

ABOUT MY ART

My Work

Some may recognize my name from my editorial cartooning past where I had my editorial cartoons published regularly in major newspapers such as the Toronto Sun, The Winnipeg Free press and the Winnipeg Sun to name just a few.

In 2022, I decided that I needed to reclaim my cultural past through my art. My very first piece was titled “Chinook Salmon”. My second piece was titled ‘Polar Bear”. They both remain very popular and selfishly I have kept the originals but will soon be making them available for purchase.

EMBRACING CULTURE

The Future

I am always excited to see what I create next and so pleased that I can share my work with everyone.

“I am looking forward to seeing what becomes of all this. It really is a continued journey of discovery.”
